FortiClient VPN Client: JavaScript Error

Overview



Issue: JavaScript Error when Launching FortiClient

When a user launches FortiClient on a Windows PC, they are presented with the following error message:

Resolution Steps

  1. Uninstall the FortiClient Software. 

Note: If unable to uninstall through the Windows Control Panel, please run the FortiClient VPN client removal tool as an administrator: https://pacific-solutions.sharefile.com/public/share/web-sb1061607e7684d51a1fe66ad0e3d533b

  1. Reboot your PC.
  2. Uninstall any Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package found in the Control Panel
  3. Reboot PC.
  4. Install the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
  5. Reinstall FortiClient: https://pacific-solutions.sharefile.com/d-s5600d94b4b2a474cb0feb35fd4e90685
  6. If prompted to reboot your computer, please reboot your computer.
  7. Try to run the FortiClient VPN client again. 

Issue Persists

If issues persist, please submit a helpdesk ticket. In the ticket, please include a screenshot of your Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features

Fortinet will require the screenshot to verify (1) FortiClient VPN has been reinstalled recently, (2) the most recent Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable has been reinstalled, and (3) older Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables have been uninstalled.
